Bosnia and Herzegovina is still unexplored country. A few people know about its beauty, intact nature, well-known hospitality, and numerous rivers and springs. Its unique geographical position exposes BiH to warm Mediterranean climate from the south and cool continental influences from the north resulting in a variety of flora and fauna, which is another rare feature of this country.
Mountainous areas of Bosnia and Herzegovina provide perfect conditions for eco-tourism. Walking and mountaineering are magic for both beginners and professionals. You can cruise for days mountain landscapes without finding any trace of civilization.
1. TOURIST-GEOGRAPHICAL POSITION OF BiH
Bosnia and Herzegovina is a very interesting tourist destination, as a result of its geographical position, its exceptional natural beauty, cultural and historical values and favorable climatic conditions. For centuries, different cultures, religions and traditions have intersected in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which gives the additional value to creation of specific tourism product and enriches the offer. Thanks to all of this, Bosnia and Herzegovina has many natural and human work and activity created opportunities for the development of different types of tourism, among them especially:
- Mountain: Olympic mountains of Bjelasnica, Jahorina, Igman and Trebevic, Vlasic near Travnik are great resources within development of winter tourism and sports and recreation.
- Spa: spas in Ilidza near Sarajevo, in Fojnica, Kiseljak, Teslic, Tuzla, Olovo, Srebrenica, Visegrad represent the richness of thermal springs of mineral waters, which were subject to exploitation in the early historical period for the purpose of treatment.
- Maritime: Neum with 270 sunny days per year, is the Bosnian-Herzegovinian exit to the Adriatic Sea which with its environment (Mostar, Stonski zaljev, Hutovo blato) provides unique opportunities for recreation.
- Hunting and fishing: preserved nature, richness of rivers, lakes, various species of game are exceptional tourist attraction.
Congress tourism: Sarajevo, Zenica, Tuzla, Bihac, Banja Luka, Mostar.
Many Bosnian-Herzegovinian valuable natural resources are preserved. These are the canyons of Rakitnica and Krusnica, a bird reservation Hutovo blato and Bardaca, Perucica rainforest, lakes such as Blidinje, Prokosko, Satorsko and Boracko, waterfalls Kravice, Skakavac, Kozica, Una river with its waterfalls, the upper stream of Neretva, Buna spring.
